The Dynamic Web

These days, surfing a static Web site is about as much fun as watching a broken TV. Nearly every site in the real world is dynamic: Everything from a popular search engine, to a news site, to an online retailer, are all dynamic sites.

A dynamic site is generally defined as a site that draws a portion of its content from a changing data source, such as a database of news stories, or a database of shopping cart items and products. Every time you click to view a page, a database has to churn in the background somewhere to retrieve your content, and then an HTML page is automatically built especially for you.
