Sound is the neglected medium in multimedia. Pictures and text are used in just about everything, and video and animation get all the glory. However, sound can be used to create compelling multimedia experiences as both the supporting media and as the central focus.

An undocumented feature, such as the rateShift property, is something that the Macromedia engineers added to Director but is not officially supported by Macromedia. Many times, the features have not been tested well enough to ensure that they will work on all computers. Usually, undocumented features show up in later versions of Director as documented and supported features. However, Macromedia might also decide to remove such features from future versions altogether.
