Chapter 38. USING 3D MEDIA > TROUBLESHOOTING USING 3D MEDIA

TROUBLESHOOTING USING 3D MEDIA

  • Almost every 3D graphics program will export Shockwave 3D files in a slightly different way. Be prepared to spend some time getting used to how your 3D program does it.

  • When exporting from 3DS Max, the camera view is completely dependent on which window is selected when you choose to export. Usually, you want the perspecive view window, not the front, back or side windows.

  • Not all triggers work on all behaviors. If you cannot drag and drop a trigger onto a sprite, this is because the action behavior on the sprite does not support that trigger.

  • When you create a model in a 3D graphics program, you may be creating it from several different shapes. You must tell the 3D program that you want these shapes grouped together into a single model or they will all appear as separate models when you get the file into Director.

  • You can change the 3D software drivers that Director is using by choosing Modify, Movie, Properties. Test your movies out with each available driver to make sure it looks good and is fast enough. You never know what the end-user will have.
