Chapter 9. THE DIRECTOR ENVIRONMENT > TROUBLESHOOTING THE DIRECTOR ENVIRONMENT

TROUBLESHOOTING THE DIRECTOR ENVIRONMENT

  • Some preferences, such as Cast window thumbnail sizes, do not persist across movies. If you change this preference, and then open an old movie, the Cast window reflects the preferences set for that movie.

  • If you get an error when you start Director that claims a duplicate Xtra is in the Xtras folder, the only way to determine which Xtra is a duplicate is to make an educated guess. If you don't find two of the same name, it might be two of similar names, such as “sound xtra” and “sounds xtra.” You might have to use trial and error to find the culprit.

  • When you use an item from the library, a copy is made and placed in your current Cast. If you need to use that item again, use the version from your Cast, not the library, to avoid a chance that a second instance of the library item might be added. This is especially true if you change the library item after it is in your Cast. Even if you change the name of the item, Director does not recognize that the item already exists in your Cast.
