SOUND FILE FORMATS

Like images, sound files come in a variety of formats. Director can import a large number of these formats. Inside each sound file, the sound is represented in a variety of sample rates and bit depths.

The Audio Interchange File Format (AIFF) is the most common format used on Macintosh computers. It is also used in the digital music recording industry. You will see these files on both Mac and Windows machines, usually represented as an .aif file.
