Chapter 30. SOUND APPLICATIONS > CREATING VOLUME CONTROLS

CREATING VOLUME CONTROLS

If your Director movie uses any sort of sound, it is usually a good idea to offer users a chance to control the overall volume. Although every operating system has a sound or volume control panel, you can imagine that plenty of people don't know that it exists. It's also unreasonable to expect people to have to leave your program to adjust the volume.

Adding a volume control is not hard. Using the volume property of a Sound channel, you can set the volume to a number from 0 to 255. If you are using more than one channel, you might want to set the volume of all the channels, 1 through 8, to the same number.
