Chapter 22. SHOCKWAVE AND INTERNET ACCESS > GETTING TEXT OVER THE INTERNET

GETTING TEXT OVER THE INTERNET

Shockwave Lingo enables you to get many forms of media over the Internet or an intranet. For bitmaps, getting an external image is as easy as specifying its location. Getting text, however, is a little more complex.

You might get text from another file on the Internet to store textual data in an external file so that non-Director users in your company can update this data. This technique would work with the numbers that make up a chart, for example. You might also import text data from another source, such as a weather report or a small text database.
