WHAT IS AN OBJECT?

Behaviors are object-oriented scripts customized to fit Director's sprite-oriented nature. You can use parent scripts to create non–sprite-oriented objects, sometimes called code objects.

In Lingo, you define an object template by writing a parent script. Parent scripts are like templates for code objects. You then create an object from that parent script by sending a “new” message to the parent script. You can create as many objects as you want from the same parent script. The Director manuals call the objects created from a parent object child objects.
