MAKING SCROLLBARS FOR LARGE IMAGES

Although panning enables users to see any part of a large image, there is no way for them to tell, at any particular time, where they are in the image. In addition, dragging with the cursor can be clumsy at times. If the image is very large, users might have to click and drag many times to get all the way across the image.

Scrollbars solve these problems. They are used so commonly throughout computer applications that even novices can use them without difficulty.
