Chapter 32. GAMES > TROUBLESHOOTING GAMES

TROUBLESHOOTING GAMES

  • Many games combine behaviors and movie scripts. Remember to make sure that each type of script is set correctly, so that a behavior is not set to be a movie script and a movie script is not set to be a behavior.

  • The function keyPressed( ) has many game applications because it tells you exactly what is happening on the keyboard whereas on keyDown sends only a single message at a given time. However, watch out for the reality that users can have more than one key pressed at a time. Make sure your games can handle it when users press both the left- and right-arrow keys.

  • Don't just worry about bugs and obvious errors when it comes to games. Also think about playability and fun. Games are supposed to be enjoyable entertainment. Consider it a bug if your game is not fun.
