Chapter 13. ESSENTIAL LINGO SYNTAX > COMPARING VARIABLES

COMPARING VARIABLES

One of the tasks that you will want Lingo to do for you is to make decisions. For the computer to make decisions, it needs to have information. Information, to a computer, is binary: 1 or 0, on or off, TRUE or FALSE.

Lingo uses the idea of true or false in cases where it needs to make decisions. When you compare variables, for instance, you are asking, “Are they equal?” The answer can either be yes or no, which the computer shows as TRUE or FALSE.
