USING DIGITAL VIDEO FORMATS

Digital video has many aspects to consider, such as file type and compression. Because digital video files tend to be huge, uncompressed video is almost unheard of. Whatever type of file you choose to store and play back the video, you should also choose a video compression algorithm to use with this file type.

File Types

Director authors primarily use two digital video formats. The most common is QuickTime: a cross-platform multimedia format created by Apple. The other is the Video for Windows (AVI) format, which is built into Windows 95, 98, 2000, and NT.
