Chapter 14. CREATING BEHAVIORS > TROUBLESHOOTING CREATING BEHAVIORS

TROUBLESHOOTING CREATING BEHAVIORS

  • Make sure that if you are creating a behavior, the script type is set to “Behavior”. Otherwise, you won't even be able to attach the member to a sprite.

  • Remember to use return at the end of the on getPropertDescriptionList handler. Without returning the property list defined within, Director cannot make the Parameters dialog box.

  • When you refer to a sprite with the “sprite(x)” syntax, the sprite number needs to be totally contained in the parentheses. The code “sprite(x)+1_ is wrong, but “sprite(x+1)” is correct.

  • When you build a list for an on getPropertyDescription handler, each item must have a #comment, #format, and #default property. Even in cases where there is no logical #default, you need to put something there, such as a 0, VOID, or an empty string.
