USING TEXT MEMBERS AND FIELDS

Although text members and fields essentially hold just text, they also have many other properties that affect how the text appears on the Stage. Text formatting, such as styles, fonts, and sizes, is not a part of strings, but plays a major part in the text used in these members.

Fields

A field member's primary property is the text it contains. You can get this text in Lingo with the text property of the member. You can also use the Lingo syntax field to refer to any field's text as if it were a string.
