Chapter 17. CONTROLLING SOUND > TROUBLESHOOTING SOUND

TROUBLESHOOTING SOUND

  • Remember that when you use Lingo to take control of a Sound channel, it cuts off any sound being played in the Score using that channel. It is often a good idea to use Channel 3 and above for Lingo commands if you are using Score sounds, also.

  • Using a relative path to a Shockwave audio file can be tricky. It does not work until the movie is located on a server and running from Shockwave. Instead, use the pathname and the relative path to construct a string for the url if the runMode is “Author”. Also, remember that you need to use different pathnames for Mac and Windows, because Mac uses a colon (:) as a path delimiter and Windows uses a backslash (\).
