Chapter 18. CONTROLLING BITMAPS > MANIPULATING BITMAP MEMBERS

MANIPULATING BITMAP MEMBERS

Director 8 offers an entirely new set of commands for editing bitmap images. Direct control of bitmaps has never been present before in Director and developers are sure to find all sorts of useful new applications for it. Already, the “Sprite Transitions” category of the Behavior Library has been created to take advantage of them, as well as the “Paint Box” category.

All the new image functionality revolves around the image property of a bitmap member. You can affect the image of a member directly, or store images in variables, and then assign them back to members later.
