Chapter 11. ADVANCED TECHNIQUES > TROUBLESHOOTING ADVANCED TECHNIQUES

TROUBLESHOOTING ADVANCED TECHNIQUES

  • In the Behavior Inspector, you can use the little padlock button at the bottom-left corner to lock the contents of the window to the currently selected sprite. Then, you can use the Score and Stage to look at other sprites without changing the Behavior Inspector.

  • It is easy to add multiple behaviors to a sprite by accident. Keep that in mind and check for it if you see strange things happening to a sprite.

  • If you want film loops to be Background Transparent, you must set the individual sprites to use Background Transparent ink before you copy and paste or drag them to the Cast to create a film loop. The same is true for other inks, such as Matte.

  • Most developers who attempt to use color cycling are really not looking for the effect that it provides. A much more useful effect is the one provided by the Color Cycling behavior in the Animation category.

  • Is your streaming movie not working correctly after it is on the Internet? The first thing you should do is try to upload the movie with streaming turned off, just as a test. If it works, you know it is the streaming that is causing you problems. Now try to determine which elements are not loading in time and use the library behaviors to have the movie wait for them.
