SHOCKWAVE STREAMING

With the introduction of cable modems, digital subscriber lines, and other modes of fast Internet access, people are able to download and view larger and larger pieces of media over the Internet. However, even at these high speeds, the loading process is still much slower than from a hard drive or CD-ROM drive. Plus, many people will continue to use 33.6Kbps or 56Kbps modems for a long time to come.

For these reasons, you may want to consider streaming your Shockwave movies rather than asking the users to download the entire movie before it begins playing. This is especially useful for linear animations, where the first frames of animation need only a few images.
