GROUPING

Earlier in this chapter, in the “Moving the Camera” section, I showed you a command called addChild that grouped the camera with another model. Grouping is an important part of controlling a 3D world.

When you create a world in a 3D graphics program, grouping is used to create models. For instance, you might create a car out of a few boxes for the body and four cylinders for the tires. Then, you would group them together to create a car model. Once this world was brought into Director, this would just be seen as a model, not as a group. So grouping doesn't necessarily mean the same thing between graphics programs and Director's 3D engine.
