Chapter 39. 3D LINGO > WORLD TO MOVIE COMMUNICATION

WORLD TO MOVIE COMMUNICATION

Your 3D world exists inside a sprite which is inside a member. This sprite can either be displayed as a normal sprite, or drawn directly to the screen. The latter option, which is the default, is much faster. You can change this setting using the directToStage property of the member.

If you decide to turn off directToStage, then you gain only one advantage: other sprites can appear on top of the 3D sprite. However, the speed decrease is so profound that the 3D world needs to be pretty simple in order to get any performance at all.
