Summary

In this chapter, you learned what a JavaServer Page is and how is it better than other server-side scripting technologies. You also learned about the components of JavaServer Pages that include directives, declarations, JSP tags, expressions, and scriptlets. Next, you learned about the three types of directives and a few JSP tags.

You learned about the advantage of tags and developing custom tag libraries. The idea of developing customized tag libraries will encourage Web developers and designers to create their own tag libraries for common functions. Very soon, Web developers and designers will start using JavaServer pages to create portable Web applications that can run on different Web and application servers.
