Summary

ASP is a technology with which you can create dynamic Web pages. To run ASP, you need a Web server. You can create ASP pages if you know any of the scripting languages such as VBScript or JavaScript. You can write ASP in any text editor, such as Notepad or the native editor of UltraDev 4.

ASP 3.0 consists of seven built-in objects: Response, Request, Application, Session, Server, ObjectContext, and Error. The Response and Request objects are most commonly used in Web applications. While the Response object is used to send output to a browser, the Request object is used to read information sent by the browser. The Server object can be used to open a database connection while the Session and Application objects are used to maintain state in a single session and across all current sessions, respectively.
