The Request Object

In a client/server model, such as the Internet, the server processes the ASP page requested by a browser and sends the results to the browser. When the browser sends a request to the server, it sends data along with the request. This data can include, for example, form data or header data.

Form data refers to the data that is entered in a form on the browser. Data, such as user name and password, entered by users in the login form to log on to their mail accounts is an example of form data. This form calls an ASP page on the server. This ASP page reads the form data and then sends a query to the database to check whether the username and the password are correct.
