Chapter 19. Making a Web Page Dynamic > Adding Dynamic Elements to a Web Page

Adding Dynamic Elements to a Web Page

UltraDev’s simple menu-driven interface lets you develop dynamic Web applications without having to write extensive code. You can add dynamism to a Web page by using the Live Objects and Server Behaviors options available in UltraDev. These options let you make text, images, and form objects dynamic. They also let you make HTML attributes and the parameters of ActiveX controls, Flash, and other objects dynamic. When you add a server behavior to a page, such as an .asp, .jsp, or .cfm page, UltraDev inserts a server-side script in the page’s source code. This script instructs the server to transfer data from the data source to the page’s source code.

Adding Dynamic Text to a Page

Displaying dynamic text on a Web page means that you can display the information stored in a database table or in a server object on the Web page. For example, consider an online bookstore called Buybooks. It stores the details of all its books in a database table called Books, as shown in Figure 19.1. You can display the name, price, description, and other details of the books that are stored in this table as dynamic content on a Web page.
