Chapter 24. Introducing Extensions > JavaScript in Extensions

JavaScript in Extensions

The DOM for a browser interprets the JavaScript code in an HTML document and displays the page in the browser. The DOM for UltraDev interprets the JavaScript code written for extensions. UltraDev compiles and executes any JavaScript code written between the <SCRIPT> tags in an HTML document, as well as scripts written in external .js files.

You can create advanced extensions by using the basic HTML form elements and adding the JavaScript code. You can even create new custom controls by using JavaScript. The UltraDev architecture provides two built-in controls created using JavaScript—the tree and color button controls.
