The Concept of Extensions

Extensions are programs added to UltraDev to extend its functionality. You can write these programs by using a combination of HTML, JavaScript, and the UltraDev API, which is based on JavaScript. In addition, you can write extensions in C or C++. With extensions, you can customize the UltraDev interface by adding new objects, menu commands, floating panels, Property inspectors, server behaviors, data sources, and so on. By adding extensions to UltraDev, you reduce the time and effort spent in creating Web applications. For example, if you want to add to your Web application a feature that allows users to filter results of a search operation based on some criteria, you can create a server behavior extension. This extension creates a server behavior that implements this feature. You can add this new server behavior to the UltraDev interface and reuse this server behavior in other Web applications you create. This saves the time spent writing code to implement this feature every time.
