Installing SQL Server 7.0

To install SQL Server 7.0, follow these steps:

1.
Insert the Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 CD into your CD drive. The Autorun.exe file executes automatically, and the Microsoft SQL Server screen is displayed.

From the list of options that is displayed, select Install SQL Server 7.0 Components. The Install SQL Server 7.0 Components screen is displayed.

Note

If your operating system is Windows 95, select SQL Server 7.0 Prerequisites, and click Install Common Controls Library Update.

From the list of options displayed, select the Database Server-Standard Edition option.

In the Select Install Method dialog box that is displayed, select the Local Install-Install to the Local Machine option to install SQL Server on the local machine, and then click Next. If you want to perform remote installation, select the Remote Install-Install on the Remote Computer option, and type the name of the remote computer or click Browse to locate the remote computer.

The Welcome dialog box is displayed, warning you to close all Windows-based programs before you run the setup. Click Next.

The Software License Agreement dialog box is displayed. Click Yes to accept the agreement.

In the User Information dialog box that is displayed, enter your name and the name of your organization, and then click Next.

8.
In the Setup dialog box that is displayed, enter the CD key number, and click OK. The Setup dialog box displays your Product ID. Click OK.

9.
The Setup Type dialog box is displayed. From the list of setup options that is displayed, select the Typical option to install SQL Server with all the most common options. In the Destination Folder section, specify the location where you want to save the program files and data files. Click Next.

10.
The Service Accounts dialog box is displayed. You need to set a domain password in this dialog box. Accept other default settings, and click Next.

11.
The Start Copying Files dialog box is displayed, informing you that the setup files will be copied after you click Next. Click Next to start copying the setup files.

12.
The Choose Licensing Mode dialog box is displayed. Choose the options according to the license agreement, and then click Continue. This begins your SQL Server 7.0 installation.

13.
The Setup Complete dialog box is displayed. Select Yes I want to restart my computer now, and click Finish.
