Part VI: Appendixes > Creating a Database

Creating a Database

Access is a DBMS that lets you store, modify, and retrieve data stored in a database. Although Access is a DBMS, it supports most of the features of RDBMS. The databases that you create in Access are stored as files with an .mdb extension.

In this appendix, you will learn how to create a sample database, Schoollibrary, in Access. This database is used to maintain the transaction of books in a school library. The Schoollibrary database contains two tables, Studentdetail and Bookdetail, which are used to store information about the students and the books in the library, respectively.
