Activity Corner

In this section, you will create the form that allows users to search for songs based on either a composer or song name. To design this form, follow these steps:

1.
Open the Sidebar.asp file. Switch to the Layout view if the current view is the Standard view.

In the layout table that you have created in the Sidebar.asp file, insert a layout cell after the cell that contains the text Search.

Select the inserted cell and set its height to 140 pixels and width to 129 pixels by using the Property inspector.

Click inside the cell and select the Forms category from the Objects panel. Click the Insert Form button in the Objects panel.

After the form is inserted, type the text Keyword and set the font type of the text to Verdana, font size to 1, and color to #CCCCCC by using the Property inspector.

Place the cursor after this text and click the Insert Text Field button in the Objects.

Select the inserted text field and type Searchstring in the Text Field text box in the Property inspector. Type 12 in the Char Width text box.

Select the Characters category from the Objects panel and click the Insert Line Break button on the Objects panel. Enable the Invisible Elements option in the View menu to make the line break element visible.

Next to the line break, type the text Select . Insert a line break after this text.

Place the cursor after the line break and select the Forms category from the Objects panel. Click the Insert List/Menu button in the Objects panel.

Select the list/menu and select the List option in the Property inspector.

Type selection in the List/Menu text box in the Property inspector. Type 1 in the Height text box.

Click the List Values button in the Property inspector.

In the List Values dialog box that is displayed, click the + button. In the Item Label column, type Composer . To enter the second value in the list, click the + button again. Type Album in the text box that appears in the Item Label column.

Click OK to close the List Values dialog box.

Next, you need to insert a Go button, which the user must click to submit the form.

Place the cursor next to the list item and click the Insert Button icon on the Objects panel. The form button is inserted at the cursor position.

Select the form button and type Go in the Label text box of the Property inspector.

Select the Submit Form option on the Property inspector.

20.
Select the form by clicking the <form> tag on the status bar.

21.
In the Property inspector of the form, type Searchform in the Form Name text box. In the Action text box, type /Songresults/search.asp .

22.
Select the POST option from the Method drop-down list.
