Phase 4 Summary

Production — the actual building of a site — is no longer as relatively straightforward a process as when tables and straight HTML were the norm. With so many options available for building pages, more time should be devoted up front to identifying goals, the scalable nature of the site, as well as maintenance and content needs. With the movement toward separating design and content, using style sheets to establish consistency, and moving away from traditional table structures to create a simplified page layout, designers and coders are needing to educate themselves not only on how to build and integrate in this manner but why they are doing so. With a larger understanding of the big picture, we begin to shift into this new way of thinking.
