Testing Functionality

Testing functionality of individual features prior to actual HTML production is a smart move. An innovative idea for a pull-down menu using DHTML might seem like an excellent solution during brainstorming, but if in reality it is neither cross-browser compliant nor Mac viewable, you are losing a significant percentage of your audience, and the solution is not acceptable.

In addition, by testing assumptions now, you are able to determine whether there are changes to project scope with which to contend. Having to build two versions of the site — one for Internet Explorer and one for Safari, or one for high-bandwidth-capable audiences and one for low bandwidth — would be a significant change.
