Developing Concepts

The development of the look and feel can start by gathering colors and putting rough ideas on paper or screen — without concern for the content and labels that the information design will provide [5.1]. While waiting for the information design, the visual design team can refer to the Communication Brief for guidance. Only after the sitemap and wireframes are approved, however, can design truly begin. Refer to the Communication Brief for tone and feel, to the sitemap for structure, and to the wireframes for navigational and content elements. Pull together everything to date and begin to “paint” around it.
