Reviewing Site Goals

As the visual designers get ready to begin the Design phase, pull out the Communication Brief and use it as a springboard for the creative process. What was established for the tone? Corporate and solid and clean? Cutting edge and funky? Elegant and smooth? Something else entirely? The Communication Brief also lists the client's redesign objectives, including visual goals such as a more professional look and feel, easy updating through style sheets, search engine optimization, etc. During creative brainstorming, the design team should see and identify the visual problems of the existing site, review the redesign goals, view competitive sites, and discuss the proposed solutions.
