Open ’em Back Up, Moe

Working with a bunch of documents over a long haul just got tons easier. You’ve seen how you can close all your open docs with one swift click (assuming you’ve read the “Close ’em Down, Joe”tip). But how about the times when you’re in the middle of a work session and you need to quit Dreamweaver (heaven forbid!) and come back later. Previously, you had to go through the laborious process of re-opening all your docs to set up your work environment properly. Now, Dreamweaver will do it for you—if you know two simple tricks.

The first trick is to enable the re-open option in Preferences. Go into Edit > Preferences and, from the General category, check the Reopen Documents on Startup option. Now here’s the second trick: Don’t close your documents before you exit Dreamweaver. If you do close them all, you’ll either get the start page or an empty, documentless interface. If you leave one or more (or all) of them open before you choose Quit the Program, however, Dreamweaver re-opens them all when the program starts up again. Now that’s a tip to beat the tom-toms about.
