My Asset Is Your Asset

The more sites you develop, the more you’ll find elements they have in common. Instead of spending time re-creating things such as 1×1-pixel transparent GIF images or taking the time to hunt down an asset in one site just to copy it to another site, right-click (Ctrl+Click) the asset you want to copy to another site—it doesn’t matter which category of the Assets panel you’re in—and then select the site listed in the Copy to Site submenu. Oh, but it gets better: You don’t have to copy one asset at a time to a site. Within each category of the Assets panel, you can select as many assets as you need to copy. Just click the first asset, and then hold the Shift key while clicking the last asset in a contiguous list, or hold the Ctrl (Command) key while clicking individual assets in the list. Then use the context menu as described previously to select a site to copy the assets. After Dreamweaver finishes copying, an alert displays the results of the action—usually that the assets have been successfully copied to the site and can be found in the Favorites section of the Assets panel for that site.
