One and Only

Sometimes when I’m working, I find myself overwhelmed by the multitude of open files. There’s usually one file I need to keep open however, so using the “Close ’em Up, Joe” tip (also in this chapter) isn’t quite what I need. Macromedia took the idea of closing documents one step further and introduced Close Other Files for Windows users (sorry Macintosh users!). For this tip to work, you must have a document maximized so that there are filename tabs at the top of the Document window. Bring the document you want to keep open to focus if it isn’t already, and then right-click the document’s filename tab and choose Close Other Files. All but the current document will close. I don’t know about you, but I work much more efficiently without all those extra documents staring at me.
