Time to Play Favorites

Although there’s a good chance you’ll use most of the objects on the Insert bar at one point, if you’re like me there are some you use way more than any of the others. Now you don’t have to go digging for your MFOs (most frequent objects—pronounced “mofo’s”), you can just choose Favorites. Favorites is a new customizable category of the Insert bar. Any object available in any of the standard Insert bar categories (and then some) can be made a Favorite. To get started with customizing your Insert bar, choose the Favorites category. Then right-click (or Ctrl+Click) on the Insert bar itself and select Customize Favorites. (Psst... a little bird told me that you can bring up Customize Favorites from anywhere on the Insert bar.) The Customize Favorite Objects dialog pops up with a full list on the left of all the objects you can access. The top-most list enables you to quickly limit your options to a particular category such as Forms, or you can go through them all. After you’ve found one you want, select the double-arrow button and the object is transferred to the Favorites side. After you’ve done a few, you might want to add a separator to group them more effectively or use the up and down arrows to re-order them; the objects listed top to bottom appear left to right. If you accidentally choose the wrong object, remove it from the Favorites list by selecting it and clicking the trashcan icon. Click OK to see your MFOs front and center. Feel free to revise Favorites at any time by bringing up the dialog via the ol’ right-click (Ctrl+Click).
