Chapter 1. Well-Oiled Machine: Working the Dreamweaver Workspace

Chapter 1. Well-Oiled Machine: Working the Dreamweaver Workspace

“We’re here at the Web Development Racing Championships play-offs, speaking with the sport’s rising star, Webifyin’ Jones. Tell me, Webifyin’, what gives you your edge?”

“It’s all in the machine, Pat, all in the machine. I’m just there to guide it.”

“And guide it you do. So, tell me about your tool, then. What do you have under the hood?”

“It’s Dreamweaver MX 2004, Pat. Straight out of the box.”

“I don’t know about that, Webifyin’...looks like you did a fair bit of customization on that puppy.”

“That’s the beauty of it, Pat. I can shape Dreamweaver to work the way I want to work and really max out its performance. Whether I’m laying it down in Design mode or cruising in Code view, Dreamweaver helps me give the best that I’ve got.”

“I notice you seem to have some sort of manual you’re clutching. Is that your secret weapon?”

“I’m sorry, but I can’t reveal all my sources, Pat. I will say, however, that the first chapter of this book is really a killer when it comes to squeezing the most performance out of Dreamweaver’s workspace. It’s got more tips on working with panels, toolbars and shortcuts than I ever thought possible. Just thinking about it gets my engines revving.”

“Thank you Webifyin’ and good luck.”
