The Vast Emptiness of Way Out, Layout Space

Looking at your tables in both Standard and Layout view is free and easy. But suppose that you want to add some content to the table while in Layout view—now that’s gonna cost you some energy units. Okay, the tariff isn’t that high—any cells with content already in them can be added to or modified at no extra charge. Totally empty cells or cells with just a nonbreaking space in them, however, well, that’s another matter. Layout view sees such blank cells as just structural and not load bearing, if you will. To insert text, graphics, or any other content into an empty cell in Layout view, you need to explicitly draw the cell. Dreamweaver helps by snapping to the edges of existing cells, but you still need to push that mouse around to make it happen.
