Before You View, Preview

Got a mess of CSS style sheets and you’re not sure which one should be applied. Dreamweaver enables you to preview your style sheets before you link or import the file. After you click Attach Style Sheet from the CSS Styles panel (or use one of the nine zillion other ways to accomplish the same task, such as choose Attach Style Sheet from the Style list on the Property inspector), the Attach External Style Sheet dialog appears. Browse to or enter any CSS file and—before you click OK—choose Preview. Dreamweaver applies the selected style sheet and lists the new style sheet temporarily in the CSS Styles panel. Choose another CSS file and Preview is ready to give it another go. When you’ve found your heart’s desire (in terms of style sheets, that is), choose Link or Import and then OK. Preview even works when one style sheet is already applied and you want to see what effect a new style sheet will have. Step lightly here, however: If your existing style sheet is selected in the CSS Styles panel, Dreamweaver imports or links your new sheet within the existing one. Although that could be the desired approach, often the goal is to include multiple style sheets in the main document. Click anywhere in the document to remove the highlight from a style sheet in the CSS Styles panel.
