Code Surveillance

The sooner you start spying on your code, the better off you’ll be. That’s right, spy on it. Unless you have good reason, your code should always be visible to you while you’re working. Why? Because I said so. Is that not a good enough answer? Oh okay, I’ll tell you why...there’s much more to good web development than what you see in Design view. Learning what powers your page, the code, will help you to become a much better developer. When it comes time to troubleshoot a problem, you’ll know where to look. Even if you don’t know any code at all to start, by watching Dreamweaver create the code for you, eventually the code will start making sense for you. Before you know it, you’ll be getting your toes wet so to speak and eventually diving into the code to do your own customizations. Dreamweaver lets you choose between Code view, Design view, or Split view by clicking the respective buttons in the Document toolbar or by selecting the view of choice from one of the first three entries in the View menu.
