Do You Validate?

For the most part, Dreamweaver does an excellent job of keeping your code valid and properly written; however, Dreamweaver can only do so much itself. The rest is up to us to tell Dreamweaver what we want done or hand-code it ourselves. In the Validation panel, Dreamweaver can check your document against various validation specs and list warnings and errors for you. Select File > Check Page > Validate Markup or use the keyboard shortcut Shift+F6 to begin the process. A list of errors and warnings appears in the Validation panel, of which you can double-click to jump to that line number in the code—even if you’re in Design view. If you’re not sure what any of the listed items mean from their descriptions alone, select the entry and then use the Options menu or right-click (Ctrl+Click) to select More Info. In the same menu as More Info, you will find Settings, where you can pick and choose which types of validation checking should be done.
