Chapter 9. Peel Rubber: Maxing Out Your Code

Chapter 9. Peel Rubber: Maxing Out Your Code

You’re not the hand-coding type or maybe you think that you already know how to hand-code and can afford to skip this chapter. Don’t even think about it! In my observations of other developers, I’ve noticed that there are three kinds of hand-coders. There’s the mouse-user extraordinaire who will do practically everything with the mouse and uses the keyboard as little as possible. There are the keyboard geniuses who avoid using the mouse at all costs. (I know one developer who looks like he’s making love to his keyboard!) The rest who fall somewhere in-between—folks who quite possibly may not be working as efficiently as they could be because they don’t know the ins and outs of doing things with the keyboard or the mouse.

That’s what this chapter is all about—working with Code efficiently—while either in Code or Design view. Yes, you can even hand-code while working in Design view. Anyone can hand-code—even the most horrible typists, go figure! Whether you’re an experienced hand-coder, or a complete hand-coding virgin you’re bound to pick up some super timesaving tips in this chapter. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty in the code—after all, that’s what a good anti-bacterial soap is for, right?
