Mystery of the MXP

You know that extension files are delivered in the MXP file format for installation via the Extension Manager, but how do you make an MXP? After you have your extension created, you only need one more file to create an extension package. A special XML file, the MXI file, is required to make an extension complete. The MXI file holds all the data required by the Extension Manager, as well as instructions where to put the files in Dreamweaver’s Configuration folder. Help in creating your MXI file is not far away; choose Help > Extensions > Creating and Submitting Extensions to find out all you need to know about creating and submitting extensions to the Macromedia Exchange. For help with the MXI file format, look at Step 4 in the Creating and Submitting Extensions help file, where you’ll find a link to the MXI file format PDF.
