Color Me Extensible

If you’ve looked at all into creating your own Dreamweaver extensions, you may be aware that the user interface for them is based on HTML forms. This counts as an entry in both the plus and the minus columns; it’s an advantage because that makes it easy to build interfaces right in Dreamweaver, and it’s a disadvantage because HTML form elements are pretty limited in functionality. The Dreamweaver engineers have heard the cries of woe of extension authors everywhere and responded with some nifty additional controls. Top of my list is the color picker. The color picker is used throughout the Dreamweaver interface. Whenever the user needs to choose a color, that little box pops open a whole palette of colors, complete with an eyedropper for sampling. You can add a color picker to your extension by dropping code like this in your HTML form:
