Keeping Your Includes Contribute-Worthy

Any Server-Side Include (SSI) has potential to reduce your design workload by keeping consistent page elements such as navigation bars secure and easily modifiable. SSIs are pretty flexible, but you have to format them in a particular way to avoid problems when used in Contribute sites. Although it may be workable to split the <head> and/or <body> tags as far as your server is concerned, Contribute requires that all SSIs be self-contained. In other words, any SSI would have to be either within the <head> or the <body> tags or completely contain the <head>. To put this in code, if you’re building a site that contains pages accessed by Contribute users, don’t write your SSIs like this:

<!--Code in the head tag -->
</head>
<body>
<!--More code in the body tag -->
