No Special Magic Required

You needn’t be a DHTML wizard to show and hide layers. Dreamweaver makes it easy with the Show-Hide Layers behavior. Draw a layer where you want it to appear. While you have the link that will trigger the event—be it text or an image—click the Add (+) button on the Behaviors panel and then select the Show-Hide Layers behavior from the drop-down list. Each layer is listed by its ID in the Named Layers field. Select each layer that you want to reveal or conceal and then click the Show or Hide button. The Default button resets the layer so that its current state is unchanged by this event. Just think of all the cool menus you can create using this behavior. If you find yourself managing more than four layers with this behavior often, be sure to check out “Show More Layers” in Chapter 10.
