FOL Not SOL

Ever hear the acronym FOL? It stands for “fact of life,” and that’s what you encounter if you try to draw a layer in an editable region. This particular FOL takes the form of an alert that making this change would mean changing locked code, and Dreamweaver ain’t gonna do it. Okay, okay, no hard feelings—so how do you insert a layer in an editable region? Actually there are two roads around this particular FOL. One way is to place your cursor in the editable region and use the menu command Insert > Layout Objects > Layers; then you can modify the layer via the sizing handles or using the Property inspector. The other route is to use the Insert Div Tag object from the Layout category of the Insert bar and modify to your heart’s content. And them’s the facts, Jack.
