It Works Like This

With the wonders of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), you can completely separate a document’s content from its formatting. This not only allows you to quickly update a site’s look by updating a single file, it also provides a way to let a user select from a list of desired styles for a site, or even pick and choose their own colors if the site allows them. Here are the basic steps for the project:

1.
Build a separate style sheet for each color scheme for the site.

2.
Create images for each of the three color schemes using Fireworks.

3.
Use the CSS Switcher extensions provided with this project to build a Style Switcher in ASP, VBScript, or ColdFusion.

For the duration of this project, we’ll be using ASP VBScript (.asp). You might want to follow along using ColdFusion with the appropriate file extension (.cfm).
