Creating the Includes

Now that you have all your pieces in place, you are going to chop it up into separate files to use throughout the site. Every page will use the nav.asp file that you’ll create in this section.

1.
If it’s not still open, open default.asp.

2.
Switch to Code view, highlight everything between the <body> tag and <div id="divContent">, and cut the content to your Clipboard.

3.
Open nav.asp in the includes folder. Highlight everything in the document, and paste the copied code from default.asp.

4.
Save and close the file. The nav.asp file should now have just the header and navigational <div> tags.

5.
Return to default.asp, and choose Insert > HTML > Script Objects > Server-Side Include to insert the nav.asp include where the original navigational elements were, directly below the <body> tag. Your page should now look exactly as it did before you set up the nav.asp include file.

6.
In the default.asp page you’ve been working on, copy the entire page in Code view. Open each default.asp file in the gallery subfolders, switch to Code view, and paste the copied code. Verify the paths are correct for the CSS file and the include.

You’ve now made the rest of the default.asp pages match the first one.

7.
Save your work.
